Starting a reedbed

At long last we’re about to start work on managing the land we acquired in 2009 on the main pit at Roswell. In conjunction with the Wildlife Trust, who are leasing the land from us, we’re investigating whether we can create a small reedbed there. We’ll start by clearing vegetation and digging some test pits which we can use to monitor water levels and where we can plant the reeds we rescued in 2009.

Please join us for a raking and digging party, on Saturday 6 November. We’ll meet at 10am at Ely Sailing Club, and finish around 4pm. Do bring along lunch, gloves, a rake or spade, family and friends, lots of energy and any reeds you’ve been kindly nurturing for far too long! If you think you’ll be there please let us know by emailing lcpre@elywildspace.org.uk. Thank you!
